Weight Loss Fasting

Weight Loss Fasting is another way to gain weight loss. But the main purpose of fasting is healing and detoxification, weight loss is just the side effect. Never use fasting as your primary source of keeping weight off. The secret is to learn how to fast healthy and eat healthy. You fast to lose weight, than you have to eat in a way to keep the weight off. That's the balance.The power of fasting is not in losing weight during the fast, but in gaining control of your appetite, which is the REAL problem.

Advantage of fasting:

  • help the body rid itself of disease-causing toxins that accumulate in the bloodstream and digestive system from the food we eat, air we breathe and water we drink.
  • your digestive system is cleaner. The villi in the intestines are cleaner, the stomach lining is cleaner, the colon is cleaner.
  • increase mental clarity, relieve depression and give the "faster" previously-untapped motivation to make permanent eating-habit changes.
  • a fasted, detoxified body becomes a much more efficient digester and assimilator, extracting a lot more nutrition from the same amount food is used to eat.

Disadvatage of fasting on weight loss:

  • It slows down your metabolism

By fasting, one gives the body time to rest from the constant process of digestion so it can divert its resources to healing and detoxification. An eating "vacation," in turn, can renew a person's entire being and provide a fresh and dynamic perspective in every aspect of life.

After fasting,two facts affect your weight loss process:

  • Food is absorbed and utilized better in a clean digestive system
  • Your metabolism is slower .

If, after extended fasting a person returns to eating the same number of calories as they did before; they will gain weight even more rapidly than before they started fasting. When fasting for weight loss, the only way to keep the weight off is to greatly reform the diet; to go on, and stay on, a diet made up largely of non-starchy, watery fruits and vegetables, limited quantities of cooked food, and very limited amounts of highly concentrated food sources like cereals and cooked legumes. Unless, of course, after fasting, one"s lifestyle involves much very hard physical labor or exercise.

Fasting will allow you to gain control of your appetite. There  comes a power of self-control after you have completed a long fast that is like nothing else. You may not get the self-control that you seek on your first fast. But, do you master anything else on your first try? Fasting on a periodic basis allows a person to gradually gain  control over their appetite. Do not gorge before or after the fast! Learning to control your desire for food as you break your fast is a great aid in controlling it daily.

You will find that you are not hungry when you end your fast (after three days, hunger usually abates). You are not hungry, but the desire to eat is there. There is a big difference between actual hunger and desire for food. Learn to control the desire, learn to eat only when you are physically hungry. This is the ONLY way any type of permanent weight loss becomes effective. You must have a change of thought pattern and a change of lifestyle.
